Dawn McKenzie

 26th May 1977- 24th June 2011

We would like to express how utterly devastated we are at the tragic loss of Dawn, our much loved colleague and friend.

For the past eleven years, Dawn has been a devoted practitioner who has touched the lives of so many.

She was a gorgeous girl who we loved dearly, a true professional and a wonderful friend.

We shall miss her greatly. Our thoughts, prayers and love are with husband Bryan, mum Rae, sister Gail, brother Glen and all her family.

Shocked and saddened by Dawn's sudden death, words at this time are difficult to find. This poem, written by one of the children at Glenburn House Nursery and her father, expresses our sentiments beautifully.

The Loss of an Angel

If God were to make an angel come down,

To give a helping hand from above,

Would it be one with great white wings,

Maybe one like a silent white dove.

Or would it be a young, gentle and kind woman,

With long orange hair and a smile so warm,

To help and care and watch over us,

That would be our special friend, Dawn.

Whether Glenburn House, with children lots,

Or at home, or every day life,

Dawn touched our hearts in a special way,

As a friend, a carer and wife.

Dawn taught many at Glenburn Nursery,

Including my own two children, whom I can say

Loved you so much, as you taught and looked after them,

For you Dawn, every night they pray.

The loss is great, the pain so much more,

Our Angel has been taken away,

God in Heaven must have another need for Dawn,

'Til we see her some other day.

Angels like this don't grow on trees,

Perhaps we need to understand,

God needs our Angel Dawn to care for others now,

Somewhere else throughout his land.

For Dawn, we mourn and say farewell,

Her leaving us isn't fair.

But we will always remember our Angel Dawn,

In our everyday work and in our prayers.

'Til we see you again in Heaven above, Dawn,

Our Angel with special gifts and name,

From all the loved ones you've left behind,

Our lives will never be the same.
