Here's our newsletter for January/February 2010

• Weather

Once again can parents ensure children have appropriate footwear and clothing to allow the children to participate in all outdoor curricular activities as well as appropriate indoor footwear (Doodles) to change into when in nursery.

• Nursery Website

Look on the website for updated photographs of your child having a fun filled time at nursery.

• Chickenpox
  

We still have some children at home with chickenpox.  Please keep the nursery informed if your child becomes ill or has any other symptoms.

• Busy Bee & Pre School Children
  

The children are currently working on a sound table and are working on the sounds (m) & (n) Children are encouraged to bring an object or toy from the house to share with their friends and display on the table, which shall assist with sound recognition

• Swine Flu
  

The Government is now advising that all children aged over 6 months and under 5 years of age should be getting in touch with their child’s Doctor about getting this immunisation.  A letter is available from the baby room if you wish further reading.  If your child has received this jag could you please advise staff members in order for your child to be monitored

• Book of the Month - The Stick Man by Julia Donaldson.
  

The children are enjoying exploring the contents of this book and have been taking part in a wide variety of activities e.g. making stick people and exploring the outdoors for appropriate sticks.

• Nursery Entrance

It is of high importance that Parents/Grandparents and any other relative or friend in the nursery dropping off or collecting a child never open the door and allows anyone to enter the nursery.

• HAPPY BIRTHDAY

The staff would like to say a big  H A P P Y  B I R T H D A Y  To all the children who celebrate their birthday this month.

• Information Update

Please remember to inform staff if you have changed address, telephone number or have changed job recently to ensure we have up-to-date and correct information held on file. Please also remember to sign your child in and out of nursery each day.

• Curriculum for Excellence

Successful Learners

This month the Glenburn Book club have enjoyed reading the story “Peace at Last” by Jill Murphy The children have enjoyed lots of noisy activities and learning all about different sounds we hear in the house and nursery. Parents are invited to view the children’s fantastic artwork depicting the story

Responsible Citizens

The children are all excited and very much enjoying all about road safety.  We have an excellent resource in the main play room with games and resources which develop your child’s knowledge and experience of Road Safety and Roles in the community.

Effective Contributors

Well done and a big thank you to all children who participated in our Christmas nativity and a big thank you to all parents who came along to support the children during our performance. It was a fantastic nativity play and the children were fantastic.

Confident Individuals

We would like to welcome our new families to the nursery and are also glad to report that the children moving groups this term have settled well and are enjoying participating in new learning experiences. Homework folders are ready if your child wishes to enjoy sharing nursery experiences with you at home.
