- Recent Staff Training
Arlene, as our Child Protection Co-ordinator has recently attended Child Protection training provided by Glasgow City Council.
Laura attended a training course entitled ‘Curriculum for Excellence – Health and Wellbeing’ which she found to be very beneficial. Laura has also taken part in a ‘Numeracy Road Show’ recently.
Michelle B has attended a training day with ‘Experiential Play’ called ‘Learning to Learn – Child Initiated Learning in the Early Years
All staff have also been involved in Curriculum for Excellence training. Please take a look at our Kindergarten Short Term Plan (S.T.P) which offers some information about how we are planning for the children’s learning and development through Curriculum for Excellence. This can be found in the Kindergarten reception area.

• We would like to congratulate Melanie Mackin on graduating from The University of Glasgow with a degree in law (LLB) 2009 in addition to her MBA in Business which she achieved in 2005. Melanie is now studying at The Glasgow Graduate School of Law and is hoping to achieve the post graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
- Website Updates
We are in the process of updating our website. Please take the time to have a look (even if it is just to have a laugh at the staff photos!) and give us your views, ideas and opinions. There is a tear-off slip at the bottom of this newsletter (the printed one we handed) and it can be used to share this information, and any other information you may want to share with us. Completed tear-off slips can be posted in the gold letterbox in the Nursery reception area or in one of the comments boxes. We are hoping to include pictures of events and activities which have taken place within the Nursery on the website and will therefore be asking parents/ carers if they are happy to grant us permission to allow us to do this shortly.
- Tune into your children’s favourite songs – When Santa Got Stuck Up the Chimney
When Santa got stuck up the chimney
he began to shout,
you girls and boys won’t get any toys
if you don’t pull me out.
My beard is black,
there’s suet on my sack,
my nose is tickly too.
When Santa got stuck up the chimney achoo, achoo, achoo!
When Santa got stuck up the chimney
he began to yell,
oh hurry please it’s such a squeeze
poor Rudolph’s stuck as well.
My beard is black,
there’s suet on my sack,
my nose is tickly too.
When Santa got stuck up the chimney achoo, achoo, achoo!
